Isolation does not change a person: Prisoners need new relationships.

In Germany there are about 220 prisons and 80.000 prisoners from the age of fourteen upwards. Imprisonment means days, weeks or years of isolation from most of the society. But prison inmates build a society themselves. Isolation does not form a better person. So many released prisoners relapse into crime.

What we believe is: Every prisoner needs new relationships to people outside the prison. Every prisoner needs new perspectives: Integration into work is a big challenge for many of them for example. Drug abuse disintegrates a person. These people need more than keeping away from drugs or a workplace. The change must include the whole person and its life situation. And the change must begin during the time of imprisonment.

As Christians we believe that God offers forgiveness to human being - whether he is a manager, a housewife or a prisoner. No one of us is bound to his past. We can start anew.

So we visit prisons as volunteers and build up relationships that may last after release from prison, too. And we discuss about the Bible and how it helps us to understand God and our lives.
